The Westerville Education Foundation (WEF) today announced two upcoming initiatives to support and recognize Westerville City School District educators for their hard work and dedication to students, families, and their profession. 2015 Adopt-a-Classroom Drive WEF will be holding its inaugural Adopt-a-Classroom Drive from November 2 through November 20, 2015. During this time, families, friends and community members can show their support and appreciation to their favorite teachers by adopting their classroom or program with a donation from $10 to $100. Funds generated during the drive will go directly into the adopted classroom and be used to buy special materials, supplies and consumables that staff otherwise may purchase using their personal funds. Schools and educators also have an opportunity to win fun rewards during the drive, such as donuts and coffee, a staff pizza party from Papa John's, and matching funds from WEF up to $250. Anyone interested in adopting a classroom between November 2 and November 20, 2015, may visit www.westervilleeducationfoundation.com and click the "Adopt-a-Classroom" link to begin the process. Questions about the drive may be sent to marketing@westervilleeducationfoundation.com. Teacher of the Month Program In partnership with ThisWeek Community News, and through the support of Education First Credit Union, the WEF is pleased to provide community members with an opportunity to recognize outstanding Westerville City School District teachers through its new Teacher of the Month program. Teachers chosen to receive this honor will be featured in a full-page advertisement in the ThisWeek Westerville News & Public Opinion. Following a thorough and thoughtful review of nominees, three recipients -- one from the elementary, middle and high school levels -- will be selected each month. Nominations may be submitted through the WEF website at www.westervilleeducationfoundation.com. Nominators will be asked to answer three simple questions and all nominations submitted will be retained for consideration in future months. “We’re absolutely thrilled to launch these two initiatives this year and thank the local businesses that are helping us make them happen,” said WEF President Courtney Massey. “We hope our community takes advantage of the opportunity to participate and recognize Westerville City School District teachers for all that they do for our children. We also hope they’ll visit other portions of our website to learn more about our Foundation and how we support innovation in the district’s classrooms.”
