Last week, McVay’s 5th graders brought the magic of Aladdin Jr. to life after months of hard work and preparation. The 5th grade musical has quickly become a favorite tradition at McVay Elementary, led by music teacher Evan McIntyre, who has been producing these shows for three years.
This year’s production featured a significant upgrade—crystal-clear sound. Thanks to a grant from the Westerville Education Foundation, McIntyre was able to purchase new wireless microphones for the performers. The improved sound quality ensured that every line and lyric were heard, making a huge difference for both the audience and the student performers.
Beyond the stage, the project’s impact has extended into the classroom. In his grant application, Mr. McIntyre noted that integrating performances and creative experiences back into the school day has led to improvements in student behavior, academic engagement, and overall social-emotional well-being.
WEF is proud to support projects like this that enrich learning and foster creativity in the Westerville School District.
